This is the thread for interesting, yet totally unrelated to NiH links (ie, not about anything/anyone creative, not belonging to a member, not particularly helpful in any way, not particularly a discussion starter. may not even be a recommendation, just something interesting). Feel free to add to it. If a link IS a conversation starter, or helpful, or your own site, post it elsewhere! :) That said, you can have discussions about the links in this thread too.

My contribution to the thread for today: www.eon8.com - bizarre, interesting, and a slightly freaky concept. I'm going to keep watching it, out of curiousity.

The ever popular Crazy Pink Chibi Dancer (with pelvic thrusting action!) (http://img69.exs.cx/img69/2278/gojyone.swf)

THAT'S NOT JUST ANY CRAZY PINK CHIBI DANCER, THAT'S SHA GOJYO AS A CRAZY PINK CHIBI DANCER.

Mein BRAIN what have you DONE. Oh gooooooood >_<
I will never, never be able to see anything at all to do with Saiyuki without seeing Gojyo. Wearing a pink tank-top. Dancing. oh my god they even put in the SCARS and the flaily hair-bits!

edit!
I realized that I'm probably the only one here who knows of Saiyuki, so I'll do some explainifying.
Sha Gojyo is a character in the manga Saiyuki(also Saiyuki Reload--the sequel). Saiyuki is a retelling of some old Chinese tale, "Journey to the West". Saiyuki involves four main characters going off to the West in a Jeep(who is actually a dragon. And this story is set in ancient China!) to save the world! Hurrah! I've never actually read it--save the bits someone's posted on the LJ community Scans Daily (http://livejournal.com/community/scans_daily), but I know the basic plot & premise. The four characters are

Sha Gojyo (http://www.saiyuki.it/gruppo/sg3/4.jpg), the pink chibi crazy dancing guy. He is a half-demon! His stepmom hated him! His two scars on his face are from his mom and an axe! He is a playboy! He has red hair and eyes, as all half-demons do. He is possibly the most awesome character in the whole series!

Cho Hakkai (http://www.saiyuki.it/gruppo/sg3/5.jpg), the human teacher who turned into a demon after going on a killing spree and murdering 1,000 demons who kidnapped his sister, Kanan! He is kinda creepy in which he is all calm and patient and smiles and is good with kids but once he takes his limiters(things demon wear to make them look human and control their demonic impulses) off he is a crazy KILLING MACHINE! He used to be Cho Gonou but then the gods made him change his name!

Sanzo (http://www.saiyuki.it/gruppo/sg3/2.jpg), who is a monk and swears, boozes, smokes, and shoots things! He is grumpy but still awesome! I have nothing else to say about him!

Son Goku (http://www.saiyuki.it/gruppo/sg3/3.jpg), who is also a demon! But not a normal one. He's five hundred and something years old and spent five hundred years trapped in a cave. He is childish and always hungry but still awesome! His limiter is a gold headband you can't really see in that picture! But if it comes off he is a crazier demon than Hakkai.

.....My edit was longer than the post and it was spent entirely in fangirling.......oops?

Jenevieve

But I didn't have someone check the source code, so that would be lying. Plus, that's the kind of point that should have been raised during the discussion. If I go back the next day and say, "by the way dad, I had someone check the source code on that site and it's fine," it wouldn't change the fact that I had been careless and gone to a site BEFORE checking its source code.

I got past level seven on planarity! So now I'm working on level eight, and it is fiendishly difficult. That game is addictive....

You are officially more l33t than me. W00t. Though it says on the site that you're in select company when you get above level 10. I can't imagine managing to get that high. The dots would all get so close and crowded and you wouldn't be able to see what you're doing.

EDIT: Woohoo! After over seven and a half minutes, I have completed level 8!

Pictaps: (http://roxik.com/pictaps/) Draw a character, give it a name and then watch it dance :D

I find that incredibly impressive, from a technical viewpoint.

WHOA. *nods rapidly* I don't even know how hard it is and I know it's hard!

To be specific, I was wondering how the program would know where the drawing's joints are. How would it know which part is the arm, or which part is the leg, or where the waist would be so the drawing could bend. Would it have some sort of shape-recognition program, and if so, how would it account for multiple joints or disproportionate drawings. That sort of thing. >_>

^ if you try doing it, you draw onto a shape, which has the joints marked on it.

Kitten Cannon!

I got as far as 798 feet on that game. ^_^

...and it reminds me of Nanaca Crash (http://homepage.mac.com/pockyrevolution/nanaca_crash.html). @_@

I somehow got to like, 1,700 feet. I don't know how. It was on my first try and then the other times I couldn't get anything like that.

We shouldn't show Cat the kitten game... I got to something like 854ft... maybe more or less... It's addicting.

EDIT: I just got 1164! That was awsome!

1213 feet! Then landed in a flytrap.

How addicting but sort of cruel. But addicting.

Play psychiatrist to stuffed animals. Try and cure them. It's disturbing, amusing, touching and totally on crack, all at once.

A cute little game. My high score is currently 17860.

My entire school is obsessed with this. I had a really good one once, but apparently it didn't save correctly. :(

Edit: About twenty minutes later, and my high score for the first one is now 50500. :)

http://www.oneyearforsale.com/ This guy here is selling minutes on his site. On the front page is a space, and people buy a minute out of the year (or more than a minute), for a dollar a minute. People can put ads or jokes or links or messages to people or or marriage proposals or classifieds or personal ads, or rants or whatever. Good idea, or not worth it? I think it's interesting. And... it's a uni student. Who else would think of this sort of thing!
