Okay.

4,875,212,426.

I am officially going to stop playing Winterbells. I think by this point I've proven that I basically beat the game; I could get higher and higher scores each day if I had the patience. But I don't, nor do I have the time, so if Ariella (or anyone else! ^^) wants to try to beat my score, go ahead, but don't expect to goad me into playing again or anything. I'm retiring. ^^

Thuriel
October 29th, 2007, 10:37 AM
But (if you keep at it) you'll just go higher and higher, and if you don't decide to stop by then, eventually you'll beat me. ^^ The game's really very simple. It even stops getting gradually harder after a certain point, so it's all about endurance. And concentration. Playing while distracted is not a viable strategy. :)

Shona

Thuriel
October 29th, 2007, 02:16 PM
Okay, um. I'm actually a little embarrased by this.

I was looking at my high score, and I thought, "How odd... it doesn't end in a zero. I thought it had to, seeing as the bells are all worth multiples of 10..." and I tried one last time, to see where the score could possibly verge out of multiples of ten. I didn't get very high when playing while watching my score go up (only about 100K), but when I landed, I saw that my "previous high score" disagreed with what my "new high score" had been telling me.

My "previous high score":

48,752,124,260.

I'm sorry. (It fixes the problem, though...) *shifty eyes*

...Wait, I can't whistle. But you get the idea.

Even so, I got to the point where I knew I could just keep getting higher and higher scores if I had the patience, and I stopped myself before I got too obsessed with it, so it's more of a "wow, very impressive" not-whistle than a "omgz how did he do that!?" not-whistle. ^^ I am content with my 48 billion, and I have no intention of trying to go any higher.

So pass along congratulations or something to him from me, but it's respect, not awe. :)

HOLD ON A TICK!

That score has to be fake.

53,412,974,081,669,743

???

Doesn't it have to end with a 0?

>_> Unless it's missing a digit on the end. In which case it's 534,129,740,816,697,430.

HOWEVER... it looks fake. I don't know why, it just does.

Thuriel
May 29th, 2008, 12:58 PM
Oh, I just figured it was missing a digit. Remember when I first got my 48 billion, but I thought it was just 4.8 billion because it gave me my score without the 0 at the end? And I went again and it was fixed? That, plus I figure the score box only has room for so many digits.

Also, accusations of "Fake!" run rampant on the internet and I didn't feel like adding to them. ^^

When you get to a really insane high score, it switches to to scientific notation. The score is actually 5.3 *10^43.

And it's not fake because I think there were witness (not for the entire way, of course, but to see the end screen.)

And yea, I'm not sure if this is to be "awe." This friend is kinda...quirky. He was bored one day in AP World History, so he started playing Tetris on paper. Yea, I don't know either.

Crazy russians.

EDIT: And yay, Monty python! :D

Encylopedia Dramatica (http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/Main_Page). Not for the faint of heart. I was rewatching A Gentlemen's Duel like, two weeks ago, and it occurred to me I should link it here. I never got around to it so it's a good thing you did, Orion! Isn't it awesome? (Oh man, imagine, Edwardian steampunk England WITH GIANT ROBOTS. Rusty clanky copper ones! Smooth enameled clinky ones! All sorts of robots in the early twentieth century!)

And Konrakku(!!!!), ED can be oddly fun. It's where I get a goodly amount of my knowledge of memes! Sometimes I want to punch it in its face for treating some issues so lightly, and I steadfastly ignore several pages a little too pg-13 for my tastes, but it can be entertaining.
