Carrots

How long does it take to steam carrots that have been sliced into rounds? I did about four carrots. How long should I steam them for? And, really, like they're sitting on the stove, in a pot, with the steamer and the water (which is cold) in there. So I turn the heat on high, and then what? How long should it take for room remperature water to boil and steam the carrots to tendercrisp?

Heh, I normally just let them go 'till they're as done as I want them. It doesn't hurt 'em to open the pot and check.

(I'd guesstimate it's about 4-5 minutes to that tender/crisp stage, maybe a little more if they're thicker than a cm or so).
