I didn't want to do this but here. Please reread the rules. Particularly this bit.
Signatures: Yep, we have signatures. You’re allowed to link to your site/s in your sig, as long as it doesn’t lead to something offensive, and please don’t have animations, large pictures or banners in/as your sig. That’s pretty annoying, and I’ll ask you to remove it, or do it myself.
This is because it's annoying to scroll past all the time. Thanks! Huge amounts of text also come into that.

A few forums I've been on have somehow managed to limit the number of lines you can have per signature, not sure how it is done but that is something you could look into if it becomes a problem.
Also I think there might be ways to disable animations in signatures, again not sure how but I think it is possible.

You probably won't be able to disable animations without disabling all images. I mean, it's possible, but I doubt any of the developers thought of that and considered it important enough (that is, preventing gif images in signatures). As for character limits, I'm sure that's in the admin settings.

I can limit the number of lines, but most things like pictures would be far under that. Text taking up the same amount of space as a banner (as long as it's not a HUGE banner) is fine. It's when the text is gigantic, or the banner is too big or animated that I get annoyed.

said types of sigs also annoy me. however, I do like having an image down there, hence my current.

You are right, the forum I am thinking off banned animations as well as pictures, don't think they could disable one without the other.

I'm not doing this to repress your creativity or anything just so you know. :) It's because it's just courteous to people with slower internet, and so that it's not so annoying to scroll past. So please keep images (and blocks of text) small, unoffensive, non annoying/blinding. Thanks!
