You may be wondering why we have Amazon ads now.
You can help NiH make some money, with no additional cost to yourself! How, you ask? Through Amazon Associates.
NiH has had an account with Amazon Associates for quite a while now. Actually two accounts, one with Amazon.com and one with Amazon.co.uk. Amazon Associates is a program Amazon runs, where forums and sites can put up ads for Amazon products, or create links to products, and it has a code in the links. This registers that you, the Amazon user, has clicked a link to Amazon, through our site. Then, if you buy anything from Amazon within the next few days, we get a very small commission from Amazon.
This is not an additional cost onto your purchase, it comes from Amazon's pocket, to thank us for bringing them custom.
We get no money for just clicking the links.
I know that quite a few people here buy products from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk. So what I ask, is that when you are going to buy something from either of those sites, you click one of the NiH Amazon or Amazon.co.uk links, while logged into Amazon/.co.uk, before your purchase. You'll be able to find those links on NiH, for example, in the Shop, or at the bottom of the forum.
The shop has items that you, the NiHer, has recommended. That way people visiting us might be interested in the products we like. Other ads are based on our content, and changes depending on what we're talking about or what things you've looked at on Amazon before.
I'll also hopefully soon have a encoded link generator, so that if you want to, you can link other people to products, either on NiH, or on other forums (if you're allowed to) or your LJs, where if people click and then later on buy something, NiH will get the commission from that too. It's useful for when you're talking about a particular book or tv show, for example, and is very unintrusive, and does not charge anything extra to the customer.
