thanks. that explains it then.
I mean, i prefer avatars that aren't huge, because then it stretches the page/post a bit.
I've made the avatar size slightly bigger.

You put your avatar on a site such as www.photobucket.com (you make a free account) and upload your picture there. You put the link to the picture that is provided for you into your profile.
But don't make it too big or i'll ask you to please reduce it. :)

Whenever I attempt uploading an icon for this forum, I've ben told that the image file is too big, even when I save it as a .bmp(my nice icon doomed to bitmap)
Any reason for this or way to fix it?

I dunno for sure, but sometimes the file size is smaller when it's a .jpg file...but usually that also makes it worse quality. Unless you have photoshop, and you can set the quality it will be.

It has to be small enough both in pixels and in bytes.

Or install the next generation MS Paint: http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/
Very useful :)

Felixia - try saving it as a .PNG in Paint. The quality should stay the same, but the file size should also be smaller. Theoretically. BMP files are usually massive.

PNGs can also be pretty big. Just mail it to one of us or something :o
