So I updated McAfee and now it's being its uber-paranoid self, again, and I remember now why I kept ignoring the updates manager...
Anyhow, now some pictures in my browser (people's avs and photos on Facebook,) aren't showing up--instead I get a blank white background and the McAfee name showing up. Any idea what I toggle on/off to get my pictures viewable again? I turned off the firewall and no such luck.

The best thing is to get rid of McAffee, and get A combination of AVG (free online) and Sygate Firewall (also free). Those two are the best there are, basically. And no annoying 'register now!' popups.

I agree with Michael. AVG is shiny. ^_^ I use ZoneAlarm myself as a firewall but I heard good things about Sygate too.
Um. Okay, that's not helpful, but I haven't used anything but freeware anti-viruses for years. Norton does that to a person. ^^; Hope someone else can help.

Zonealarm is excellent as well, we had it for quite a while. We switch between Sygate and Zonealarm, depending on which one is more ahead.
...That's right, my pretties, compete for my usage! Dance, my freeware-firewall-maintenance-people, dance!
*ahem* Anyway. McAffee is probably the second worst (before Norton but after Windows Vista) product you can get. Try something else.

I agree, AVG and I like AdAware. I don't use anything though, because Dean deosn't like them :P

My dad's computer is a hopeless mess because he keeps installing a new antivirus program every six months, and only partially deletes or disables the old ones and doesn't uninstall them properly so he's got eight programs hobbling along and all trying to firewall him so I've stopped trying to use the internet on his computer.

If you are still having problems with the avatars, check your internet settings and lower the security level. Alternatively check the settings in McAffee (assuming you haven't given it the boot) and see if there is an option for the Internet settings to allow pictures through.
