What are some images that you can connect to the concept of good news, or an absence of bad news, or an absence of stress? It can be very loosely connected. I need a brainstorm session.

Um, wow, this is a very general question... can I ask why?

Um... Happy jumping up and down people? I dunno...

A couch. Generally with people snuggling on it.

That's the first thing that comes to mind, anyway. Isn't that what brainstorming's about?

Me reclining in my swivel chair not wanting to eviscerate most of London's population is generally an image I associate with good news.

Gene: That's good news for everyone, not just Londonites. I must remember not to get you mad. I'm too young to be fighting in Odin's army when you start Ragnarok.

Anyway, more images of good news? Soldiers/sailors kissing nurses in the street. Cliched, I know, but whenever I see that one photo I get the impression of something really good just happened. Or when something really good just happened, that image floats to mind.

Gene: Ditto what Michael said. ;)

Good news?

A child embracing an older man, perhaps his father or grandfather.

An old woman sitting in a hospital bed with smiling people around her, holding her hand.

...rainbows and fluffy kitties and pink bunnies and bubbles and -- I'll stop now. *stomps down on sarcasm*

...And brown paper packages tied up with string? *snerk*

Sunrises. Sunrises shining through or over stormheads.

Seconded on the pimages of cross-generational hugs. Also cross-cultural handshakes.

I'd counter with sunsets. Especially those days when the horizon is streaked with oranges and pinks with white and blue clouds. I call that orange the color of McDonalds orange drink, when they had them, at least.

A child engaged in a full force belly laugh.

A sleeping baby.

A teeny tiny baby hand in the palm of an adult hand.

Pillows.

A closed eyed, smiling "Mmmmh" face seen through steam, hovering over a cup of hot coffee or tea.

Someone standing on the balcony of beach front property over white sandy beaches, the ocean crashing against the shore, clear skies and a tone of nature induced serenity.

A couple laughing or smiling at each other, exiting their wedding while people cheer them on.

The "you may kiss the bride" moment at a wedding.

The father and bride dance at a wedding.

A new mother holding her newborn baby, the father sitting to the side of her his arm around her shoulder, mother's face leaning slightly on the father, both smiling down at their new little baby.

Children on swings.

Cubby holes in kindergarten classrooms.

I concur with all of the above, and would like to add 'sleeping puppy in a sleeping child's lap'.
Aww. (http://www.bulldoginformation.com/bulldog-and-child-sleeping.jpg)

Or sleeping animals in general.

But more on-topic, I suppose? Good news rather that cuteness-

Fancy handwritten (calligraphied) addresses on envelopes. Smiling people holding suspiciously breathing bundles of cloth.

A complete stranger smiling at me in the street.

I think of a beach for 'absence of stress'.

I posted those with ideas of good news, even if the news was little. A sunset is good news of one day survived and the promise of one the next day, or the news that the day is over and one can usually relax, or new that our sun still rises and sets and mankind in general goes one. A laughing child is good news of a happy life. A sleeping baby is good news of peace and relaxation as he or she is not screaming to be fed or changed and is just not screaming, period. A baby's hand in an adult hand is good news of a new generation, as is a couple smiling at their new babe. Pillows are good news of comfort and rest. Coffee is good news of the start of another day feeling refreshed and energized. Beach front property is good news until there is a tsunami. Weddings are good news of a new lie. Children at play or at school are good news that this world is moving as it should, with kids learning things so they can take over and enjoying the life they were given... so far.

Again, it's not exceptional news. But so far, these little things are what have made me happier, more than a new job, more money or promises of being wealthy or lucky.

Ah, true. I suppose I was being a bit too literal, there. Your suggestions were all good, but I wasn't quite...sure... what the actual focus of Tundra's question was, and so I took the more literal route of good news being delivered in hand-addressed envelopes and such.

- A newspaper with the headline "There is no evil"
- A rainbow
- Smiling children
- A big smiley face
- People cheering

So did I. I started doing more literal things but then took Tundra's "loosely" term and ran with it.
