View Full Version : Kris Kringle Research Thread
Tundra
December 16th, 2007, 02:06 PM
If you are participating in the Kris Kringle event, can you please tell us what sorts of things you 'like'. Don't request presents though, that is entirely up to your kris kringle, but you can quickly share your interests. Please bear in mind though that this thread is publicly viewable.
Examples are things like, are you religious? Are you Jewish, or Atheist or Pagan or Islamic, or some other sort of religion that does not celebrate Christmas? You can obviously be included in this too, but telling people about what you are, means that your inclusion is more relevant to you personally.

(Crap, I had a nice post and then hit something stupid and it all went PFFFT!)
I'd be really pleased with anything someone could think of, really. It's the thought that counts. I'm easy to please when it comes to gifts (unless it's from my mother, who insists on a list, so I have to get specific. *sigh*) so I'll appreciate anything.
Umm. Seriously, I'm sure anything any of you could think of I would like. I love being surprised! :D As for religiosity, I'm... you've got to be kidding me, that's a real word? >_> Sorry! Didn't know religiosity was a real word. >_> *easily distracted/amused* *ahem* So! I'm Pagan, but I celebrate Christmas with my family, because that's what they celebrate... Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Blessed Yule all equal about the same thing for me. Except I don't use the last one around my mother... she gets that look on her face that says "You're just trying to be different, aren't you?" :D

oh and of course, these lists are just *suggestions*. Please do not be too specific, and no one get insulted if they don't 'get what they wanted' because that is NOT what it's all about.

Really, the gift should reflect the giver. Allergies should be the only off-topic warnings or guidelines.

Exactly. This 'research' thread is more about MAJOR 'do not wants'. or major 'likes' like 'I only like non religious stuff', or... I don't know. I don't really like the idea of listing all our hobbies etc, because then it becomes a christmas wish list.

I was more just making sure people knew what the thread was about. But before you were talking about fandoms...

Um... let me see. I'm a Christian, so any pictures of the manger won't affend me or anything.
For the Do Not Want list no utube videos because I find they take up too much time because they take ages to download and really sometimes I can't be bother. Other then that I'm not really interested in like x-boxes and wiis or whatever and any of the games for them so any undates of the next console won't make my day.
And for the Want list as long as you don't give my something in my Do Not Want list, then I'll be happy. I'm with Hippie just one small thing like a picture of a box of chocolates will make me happy.
And I don't really have a blog... I used this (http://nanodump.blogspot.com/) one for nano, I may change it into a general blog now that nano is over, so there it is anyway.

I'm agnostic, so nothing really bothers me re:religion and stuff and everyone knows that I am more into 'darker' styles of things.
Thats pretty much all.

Faith Hill did some radio thing on a local station and was like "...joy of the season...happy holidays...and GOD BLESS!" and my sister and I cracked up because she did all the PC greetings then threw in the God-bless and shot it all to hell.
And despite what you may be thinking due to that last bit, I'm actually a decent Christian. I go to church regularly, etc.
I like classic literature and all movie/television adaptations thereof. I'm a creative writing major and a film studies minor, so anything related is a joy. My favourite colour is green. I tend to dress in a casual and/or classic style. Not very adventurous on a day-to-day basis, but I've no doubt I have it in me to try whackier outfits. I'm saving for a black top hat.
I love the ocean, all things nautical.
I adore t-shirts with funny/clever slogans that don't completely descend to crassness. Yes. (http://www.bustedtees.com/male/newest) Yes. (http://threadless.com/) Not so much. (http://www.tshirthell.com/hell.shtml#hell)

okay... Im an atheist, but religious things dont bother me too much.
Im easily amused, you could give me a single peanut and I'd be happy.
My blog is here (http://samelthecamel.livejournal.com/) if you really want to now what interests me, if you haven't worked that out already. :P

I'm agnostic. God(s)/goddess(es) can exist if they want.
I love things of the "ridiculously adorable variety and drawings
I'd prefer to skip religious stuff just because it doesn't really apply to me, but I won't get offended or go berserk if you do. (Teapot went to a Mennonite school for a long time and is good at tolerating such things)

AJane is Christian (not terribly practising atm... not quite sure why... must explore that some time :?) and, like Shrekie, ridiculously excited by the smallest things. :D

um... I've never done this before (i'm so excited! :p) ok... I am a Christian, but I do enjoy reading about other religions, as long as it's nothing bashing on people or religion. Now that that part is out of the way, I like pictures, and some of those web comics are actually pretty funny! I'm a major sucker for puns (the stupider that better!) and I actually really like youtube videos... I just have to make sure i'm not at home when I watch them because at home I have dial up, but I can always run to hippies house and leech off of her internet :p
I think really though, just like everyone else, whatever any one sends me I will totally love and enjoy! :D

I'm an atheist but I'm a super-dee-duper history buff, so if you want to send me something religious, I don't mind. ^_^
Um.
>> Hm.
Well you know I'm Hispanic, so of course, I love anything to do with Latin America/Spanish speaking places.
I like sarcasm.
I hate stupidity, modern comedy (except Blue Collar), and Adam Sandler. >_<
Oh I dunno. I'm easily excitable/made happy. ^_^ Go for it, mates.

Um, well, I'm an Athiest. I'm cool with 'Merry Christmas' and anything on the Santa side of things, but 'Jesus bless you on this joyus occasion' or varients thereof have been known to send me into tears if you catch me at the wrong time. ^^' I've got nothing against religion in general, it's just a tender point at the moment.
As to likes: novels, songs, poems, medieval stuff, inspiring quotes, pretty pictures, comics, permaculture, squirrels, cats, graphics design, HTML, choral muic, swimming, Firefly, more medieval stuff, hiking, cooking with curry, socks, spinning, plying, NihFic, pattern dancing, sewing, horse-back riding... I love lots of things? Look, write a story for me and I'll love you forever and ever and ever, send me a two-second PM with a picture you got off google and I'll love you for forever less a day because lookie, I got MAIL! Basically, I'm easy.
PEE ESS I'm hoping this dosn't count as a wish list, 'cause I basically just listed everything I could think of off the top of my head I've been remotley interested in over the last six months or so. I was proving a point, not lisiting 'wants'. :D If this is an issue, I can delete it, though.

I'm Christian, but you can send me Jewish stuff too if you want :P Also, I am all about materialism, so pictures of hawt outfits or swanky bling is cool. Also, pssht. I'm so not like y'alls. Bring on the extravagance, is what I say. Go all out, do something really totally mind-blowing for me. ;) You don't *have* to though. But if you want, yes, go all out for me.

I am Christian, I'm not into classical literature at all, Harry Potter is the closest thing to fantasy I've ever enjoyed , I love music, I play classical guitar and love classical guitar music but not really other sorts of classical music as much, but I love all music that carries a tune. And I love, love, LOVE Christmas carols. Not to be confused with Christmas songs... Erm, I'm into charity stuff, um...
My myspace is here (http://www.notebookinhand.com/forum/myspace.com/opbutterfly). That should have enough additional info...

Ok, stuff on me.
Chocolate of any kind is wonderful. I like chocolate much. You give me that, and I shall be happy. :D I'm not much into modern music. Give me classical or 80's stuff over it any day. I play violin, and I love it. I also love to read, mostly fantasy type stuff, but I have been getting into crime and law type stuff recently.
I'm Christian, but I like regular Christmas stuff. Santa and Rudolph are cool. Mostly.

I am christian but it wouldn't bother me really what you sent me.
I don't think there are many things people can get me that I won't like.

Well, let's see....
I LOVE penguins, they are the coolest thing ever!
I am not very religious.
I love musicals (Movie and Broadway)
My favorite color is purple
When I write, I tend to write more real life scenarios rather than fantasy.
My fandoms: West Wing, CSI, Brothers and Sisters, Star Trek
That's really it..... Hope that helps.

I'm Hindu, but non-religious, so anything secular would be much-appreciated.
Basically, I'm good with anything, as long as you don't spend a lot of time and effort on something really specific (like a painting of the baby Jesus...or a motorcycle...or the baby Jesus on a motorcycle....)
My Facebook actually has a lot of information about me. ^_^
Happy Kris Kringling!

Iiiii am a flake and keep forgetting to post here.
<--can has judaism. But I don't mind other holidays' greetings, I think they are a nice way to show you're thinking of others! I also find other cultures interesting and that extends to their winter holidays. (Explain me them, your wintertime greetings! Bonus points for horrible horrible lies.)
Trying to be general about this is difficult, urgh. Look, Mr or Ms or Mrs my Kris Kringle, I will appreciate anything at all! I love getting mail and this extends to online mail from secretive Santas. I DON'T KNOW, if it is from ~you~ yes ~you~ then I will love it, especially if it is made to be Humourous.
And if that doesn't help, my blog is linked to in my signature. GO WILD.

I like daschunds, etymology, random trivia, and funny holiday poems. I'm abstracted on livejounal, which might provide some other ideas for whomever my Kris Kringle might be. =)

I am something of a gamer geek.
I like cute fluffy things.
I like feeling special :D

I am religious; Pagan. Therefore I celebrate Yule, not Xmas. Don't worry; I won't be like, offended by Xmas cards or anything. Just so you know.
I love animals. I love fantasy. I love anything weird and wonderful. Even gross stuff.
I am (of course) pregnant, so anything baby-related will go down well.
And I am in the process of world-building for a new fantasy story.
That's all, but I think it's a nice chunk to work with :-D
Anyways, this thread's *remarkably* helpful. :-D

I'm a Christian so you can be as Christmassy as you like.
Er...I'm more of a plant person than an animal person. I like names, long words ending in '-ous', Norse sagas, most stuff really...
