I've been wanting to write a story about a jounalist who lives during WW2 and gets the ultimate assignment, to go to Germany and become a Nazi to get an inside story on what is going on and also give the military information. He would have been born and raised in Berlin and just before the war come to the US and become a journalist here...I have REALLY been wanting to write it becuase I have the story basically worked out, but I can't stand stories that are so out-there that its like you read the book and then after the book your really dissapointed. Also do you think it's wrong of me to mix fiction that would have obviously changed the world as we know it if it had happened, and reality?

Alternate histories are part of speculative fiction. There's no reason why you shouldn't write this story if you want to.

Yep, there's LOTS of books out there like that, so there's no reason why you can't do it. 8)

I recall reading a fictional account of a Jewish girl separated from her family during the Holocaust, who then poses as a Hitler Youth (or something similar to avoid detection) and is accepted because she is the only blue-eyed blonde in her family. She spends a lot of time trying to find her family, and I think she does in the end, or she writes them letters or something.
