I think I posted this on the old forum but I can't remember. Anyway, I am a member of PostCrossing, an online postcard exchange group. (Yes, I know there are billions of these in existence but this happens to be the one I'm part of.) You can have as many as five postcards traveling at a time (to prevent server load or address-harvesting), and when one arrives, then you can send another if you want. As soon as said postcard arrives, your name get bumped up to the top of the queue, so you receive at least one postcard for every one you send.

I've been doing it for under two months and have already received a dozen postcards. And there's no continuing obligation - you have to actively request a random address so once you've sent it you don't have to send anything else ever again if you don't want to. However, since it is random, you might continue to receive postcards from time to time.

Note: most of the postcards you send will be international post. As of this writing, Portugal has by far the most users, with Brazil, Germany, and the USA also making a decent showing.
