Ok, for my house writing story I wanted to call my guy Rory, and then have his (ironic) nickname as 'The Lion' or something, because he'd never snap. But I wanted something different, and I remember from somewhere there was another way of spelling it, I'm sure it was Irish, like Ruari?
Any clues?

A quick Google search found me these three name entries:
Ruairi - (ROO-e-ree) Old Irish=name Ruaidri: ruad "red" + re "king." Ruaidre Ua Conchobair, last high king of Ireland died in died in 1170. Ruaidhri, Rory.
Rory - (Teut) "famous ruler"; variant of Ruairi. Ruaidhri, Roderick.
Ruaidhri - (RWE-e-ree)(Teut) "famous ruler"; from Teutonic Roderick. Rory, Roderick.
Is that what you're looking for? I got the info from here: http://www.ncf.carleton.ca/~bj333/HomePage.boys.html
