Ok, I have two characters who are moving back to Texas from Boston. They have their stuff packed up on their car and are driving back and I was wondering if anyone could give me an estimate of how long it would take them to get back (to say, near Amarillo, TX). I was thinking along the lines of two weeks maybe, but I wasn't sure because I'm not good at math and figuring this stuff out
Anyway, any thoughts?

Oh god no, not unless they're stopping to do extended visits with relatives and friends AND trying to see every little sight along the way.
The most direct route is 1,949 miles. If they average 70mph, that's about 28 hours of drive time. So if they drive 8 hours a day, that's 3.5 days. And 8 hours a day is very little- that's like sleeping in, taking a long lunch, and stopping for the night at dinnertime. If I were doing this with friends, I'd plan to drive 12-14 hours a day, driving in 4 hour shifts, and have it done in two days.

Wow, that's REALLY long... It's about 30 hours to drive, and depending on whether they can stand being in the car constantly, or need to stop and sleep, rather than switchigng drivers when they got tired, I can't imagine more than 3 days, but it could be as little as 1 and a half.
And for questions like this, I really like http://www.randmcnally.com/. You can plan road trips, tell it if you want to make any side trips, and it'll calculate mileage, driving time, all sorts of stuff.
And AXJ got there while I was typing. *sigh*

Wow, thanks guys! Man I was really off, wasn't I? But I haven't been on a long road trip like what their taking so all this is a little new to me. Thanks again, especially for the website. That will come in handy!
