View Full Version : A question...

This might sound like a stupid question but I was just wondering if someone could help me. My main character is at a bar right now with one of the guys I'm setting her up with to be something more than friends. I was hoping to get her drunk enough to do something stupid. However, I'm a bit lacking in the whole drinking area.

How many drinks would it take to get someone drunk enough to be fuzzy the next morning?

PS: God, I feel bad for my characters. Always trying to torture them somehow... :)

That depends- how much does she weigh and how often does she drink?

And what is she drinking? Makes a HUGE difference to me. And is she mixing drinks?

And what do you mean by fuzzy? Hungover? Or with no memories of some of the previous night?

It's not a stupid question at all, anyway. On the contrary, it shows you are WISE to stay away from the demon drink. :)

She is drinking Rum and coke right now but I was going to have her switch to shots of...something soon...I'm not positive yet. I just want her to be forgeting certain memories. She remembers drinking but she doesn't remember how she got home and in her bed or why her romantic interest is sleeping on the floor.

Um...she's about 5'4' and about 130 pounds or so. She is generally average. She doesn't drink often so she doesn't know her own limits...

and "demon drink"... :) hehe...most of my ex-friends wouldn't agree with that statement. (long story)

To be honest, you don't need exact numbers, because once you get to a certain point you start to forget just how many you've had. *grin* If she stopped after three or four rum-and-Cokes (EW, by the way. EWWW) once she was drunk, and then shifted onto shots, she could easily get trashed enough to have only fragmented memories of the night before, especially if she doesn't drink much and she hadn't eaten recently. Empty stomach often makes an emormous difference. The only time I've ever been stupid enough to get as drunk as your MC, it was on an empty stomach.

Also, if she's trying to keep up with the romantic interest, that could help, especially if he has a much higher tolerance than her. Drinking as fast as he does, getting drinks when he does, etc.

Hangover, by the way, depends on the person. I have been hungover once in my life, and that was due to not actually sleeping due to massive caffeine overdose. Red Bull and double vodka all night is stupid enough without then going home and having two cups of freaking coffee. But I know some people, like my brother's girlfriend, who will drink maybe five glasses of wine and wake up feeling bloody awful every time.

Uh, yeah... any other questions just ask... *grin*

With cocktails it's hard to gauge how much you should have, I hear :)

^^ True that, 'cause they don't taste alcoholic and they can be made very strong without you really noticing. Not sure on the relevancy, mind you.

I concur, 3-4 rum & cokes and 3-4 shots (in under 2 hours) should put paid to a 130lb gal that doesn't drink much.

If you really want to throw her under the train, have her finish her 3-4 rum & cokes and then have someone bring her a double long island iced tea. :D

It'd certainly put paid to me.

dear, you only weigh like...120 pounds. If you never drank before, just looking at a glass of alcohol would put paid to you.

Not necessarily. I've never been a lightweight even when I first started drinking. Alcohol tolerance is a funny thing. My mum gets tiddly just looking at a glass of wine and she's been drinking for like thirty years.

But if she's that small she prolly wouldn't want that much fluid inside her. So why not stronger smaller drinks? :o

Like some VILE 40% spice liqueur

hmmm...so it depends on the person...is what I'm getting from this conversation. I really do like the idea about her trying to keep up with J.D. ( the romantic interest, why not give him a name :) ). It would be interesting for her to do...something for me to maul over.

I think I kind of know where I'm going now with this. I just had to ask this question because I didn't want to write something completely out of the blue when it came to drinking and all the lovely effects it has on people. I hate it when something is written like that. Unrealistic and all. Thanks again everyone!

Maul or mull...tomato or (yes I know thats not how you spell tomato..hello *lets just call the whole thing off*)... heh (runs away). Thats the last time I write anything with only two hours sleep and four cups of coffee. Stuff like that above gets written.

for me it takes about 8 standard drinks in half an hour to get me completely trashed and to do stupid things, but thats just me.
