Orphans

Hi!
If a 16-year old girl was suddenly orpahned in the UK, what would become of her? I mean, where would she go? What procedures would have to be undergone?
I know this seems like a weird, out-of-the-blue kind of question but I need the information for a project.

I'm pretty sure they have some form of children's services across the pond... It might depend on her. If she didn't like the government, for instance, she might go into hiding in the slums of London...

well the government would have a child service, but there always the usal

that she is found by a lovign family, or some sort of clerics, and yes it is quite possible taht criminal would take them in.

sad to say, the problaity of her if she is not found by government being found by a pimp and then becoming a prosistute is not insignifant.

however, a pleasant fact is the majority of prosusties in england espically around liverpool are philsophy students. (I can give reference on request)

but yeah, the probality of child service finding her i';d imagine is quite high, if she wants to be found.
