I need a list of things to pack when going on a one week trip to Scotland. So far I have:
Loads and loads of coats and jumpers
A camera
Money, lots of money.
Help!

Toothbrush, shampoo, and other toiletries
comfy shoes
at least one dressy outfit (never know when it's going to come in handy)
reading material or other activities for travelling time
And make sure you leave at least a little extra room in your suitcase for souvenirs.

You do know that when the aussies and brits mean when they say 'jumpers', right? :)
Anyway, back on subject:
I always take a small container of misc meds- several each of pain meds (asprin/ibuprofin/etc), cold meds (nyquil/dayquil), benedryl, chewable pepto, and anything else you might need. Usually even if I don't need them, someone else will.

Quite aware luv. Been using it myself since 5th grade off and on. Anyway, the meds are a good idea. So is the raincoat. Need to get one before I leave. *Mental note*

Binoculars and an air-rifle with tranq-darts, for the wild haggis :)

^^ I think that this being a mission trip, I PROBABLY won't be allowed to take a weapon Aimy. And the binocs sound a little wtf, so unless there's a good reason to take them, I most likely won't. I can only take a suitcase and a carry on.

Plenty of stuff to do if you get bored. Books, any current projects, etc. Also, if you get easily homesick or you're bad at sleeping in unfamiliar places, take a favourite stuffed toy or something.
And also, take more shoes than you need, especially trainers, because it's easy for one pair to get soaked and then you have to wear wet trainers. Ew.

More than 2 pairs of trainers? I think I only have 2 pairs of trainers.

Two should be okay. Take both and hope to god you don't get both of them soaked.
I learned the hard way to take two pairs. Wet trainers take ages to dry out, and in the meantime they are cold and squishy and give you blisters.
OH! On that note, take lots of plasters to cover blisters and small cuts and things. Um, what do Americans call them again? I forget.

*pats arm* there, there love. You're still my friend. Hey, you were there for me when I freaked out over using that one word wrong. You know which one. So, what if I end up with two pairs of squishy wet trainers? Yuck.

Jumper = Sweater right?
I would bring some pants if that's the case :)

what kind of pants? I have jeans, and I think I have a pair of slacks. Should I bring sweats? Or what?
(Yes, a jumper is the British equivalent of a sweater btw.)

Bring sweats and slacks (as you call them) because you may be doing quite a bit of walking.
Our church does lot's of mission trips and I know this girl who went to India to vacinate kids against polio. And they did alot of walking :)

^ ^ Then would 3 pair of trainers be too much? Serious question. I don't want to overpack, but I'm worried about the walking and the wetness.

We were overseas for 10 weeks, with two pairs of shoes. In winter. In snow. We had hiking boots that we'd put water proofing stuff on, and then mum and I had black leather fancier shoes, they were like zip up ones... they were waterproofed too. Only in Poland with huge amounts of snow did they get 'wet'.
Shoes get heavy and take up a lot of space.
Also, what's the dress code if any?

All my clothes here are considered 'dress code'. All the rule is, is 'dress modestly'. which basically means, no short shorts and no see through tops. I don't wear them anyway. Okay, I'll just take 2 pairs of trainers and then another pair of shoes.

I would pack a pair of jeans or two for any down time, just cuz, I am uncomfortable in dress pants, but a couple pair of tennys (trainers) and a pair of nice shoes to go with your dressy outfit, and you know, a good backpack/purse, to hold all that money and the goodies you buy us ;)
