So I'm writing historical fiction about the Metis and Red River Uprising, and I've found some basic information (Louis Riel and Metis were angry when the British Colonies of Eastern North America were being joined to become Canada because Manitoba and the Red River Colony would not belong to them, so they took over Fort Gary in Winnipeg and almost got what they wanted until Riel executed a prisoner, Thomas Scott. Riel was exiled to America, and the metis lost their French-speaking rights)

But I'm writing a story, and I need more. Does anyone have anything? Like more about the Red River colony and the Metis influence on the founding of Manitoba??

If you're not Canadian, I don't think you would have. I've noticed that History classes are usually restricted to one country's history.

All I know about Canadian history is the War of 1812.

Aww, when I saw the title had "Red River" in it, I was thinking I could help because that's one of the rivers that borders our state!

Oh, well. No Canadian history here.
