Well, it's been a tough two and a bit weeks for me! But as you can see, it's all turned out okay in the end! And those of us who were over at Switch's forum had a fairly nice time camping out!

If you want to see what we got up to: http://s4.invisionfree.com/Something_Else_Again/index.php?act=idx

So. What happened?
As I am writing this, the original forum is still not up. I do not know when it will be up again. The general conclusion around the internet is that Freebb had issues. Presumably with his servers, all but one of which have been down in the past few weeks, wreaking havoc on all people who invested their time and effort into Freebb. Most seem to be waiting it out. I was panicking for about 5 days, and then thought of the refugee forum idea. Thankyou Switch for allowing me to use the forum. I'm sure we all appreciate it.

I have a friend who's very good with computers, and he managed to get into the old forum, which i couldn't do no matter what i did to my computer, and, using my username and password, send you a bulk email that i wrote, passing on the refugee site link. He then made a very kind offer, to help me rebuild the forum, and to host it for free on his server! :D And then, he gave me an even bigger surprise! "How does www.notebookinhand.com sound? Happy birthday!" My own domain!!! :D I was shocked, let me tell you! He and I have been spending a lot of time on it over the past week and a bit, and Sillypants has popped in a bit too! I've been dying to tell you, as many of you noticed!

So, he has managed to save all of your memberships, including the dates you joined! You will probably need to get new passwords though. He's managed to save a couple of the most important posts, and i've rewritten many of the managerial ones.

I still own the forum, he's just hosting it, and being a techie if there are tech problems. Pretty much what Freebb did, just if there's a problem... I know where he lives! So, it's the same situation, but better!

What will hopefully happen: The forum will continue on as normal! Post away! And if you remember some of the old threads, feel very free to restart them, I do not mind a sense of deja vu at all. This will be a VERY good thing for us. For a start, the link is MUCH easier to remember! I'll have personal help with techie stuff! There's less chance of problems!

So, enjoy it!

I'm just glad it's all working now. I've seen how stressed Tundra has been over the last few weeks, considering how much work she's put into this forum.

I'm going to try to get some of the old posts back, but it could take a while.

If anyone has any TECHNICAL problems with this forum (eg page errors, etc), feel free to send me an email through this site. Any other questions can be directed to Tundra.

Tundra

realize that :D it was about a week or so ago that I tried. Just assumed that the site moved elsewhere or got discontinued for a variety of reasons but had no way of finding out at the time

Tundra

yeah, i know! That was so frustrating! I was 'running' around the internet posting what had happened in everywhere that i thought i got members from, hoping they'd see it! I got lots of 'what's going on???' emails too.

I'm so glad it's back! I went on vacation for a couple weeks and came back shortly after it went down :( I was responsible for more than one of those "what's going on?" emails, I will admit (thank you so much Tundra).

Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!

Funny thing is, I changed my sig the day NIH mark 1 went down.

But anyway, I'm back, and more annoying than ever.

Unless it was a really big pointed stick. But I suppose I could use the cookies of doom to distract the stick-holder while we dash back in.

Woah. Elski needs some sleep.

I am not distracted by *cookies* feeble American... :P Try a lamington or a biscuit... that might work! Oh no, i'm giving her suggestions!!

Elski

I'm back, but will probably be pretty quiet until my daughter gets through a surgury that is getting
scheduled for the first part of September. She had a bizarre young stroke two years ago and problems have returned. We've been going to lots of testing and she needs a "brain bypass" to redirect blood to the
stroke damaged area. Needless to say, writing is taking a back seat for now.
